The biggest number doping case ever has been reported in this year Khelo India Youth Games. According to a report by Hindi daily- Amar Ujala, 15 players have been found positive from January 10 to 22 in Guwahati. Previously, 11 players were found in the first Khelo India Games in Delhi and then in Pune nine players were found positive in dope test.
Most of the players are gold-medal winners and minors who involved in dope. While NADA has applied a temporary ban on players caught in dope for steroid and some players have not been banned for being found positive.
The players caught in dope for steroid include four weightlifters, four wrestlers, three in kabbadi and rest in athletics, football, volleyball and boxing. Anabolic steroid has been found in most of the players. Players have been asked for a B sample test, but tests have been undone due to the lockdown.
NADA had taken 346 dope samples in these games which sent to Doha (Qatar) lab for testing.
The Khelo India Youth Games is a crown jewel program under Sports Authority of India. High level training and stipend of Rs.50,000 is commenced to the players who have shown the best performance in this event.
Once the lockdown lifted then these players will get a chance to appear before the NADA Hearing Panel to prove their innocence.
