Indian Premier League (IPL) has just completed its halfway mark, and it has already broken so many records. The highest run-chase in IPL history, a historic first double super-over game to a Super Sunday with two matches being tied, the IPL 2020 season has seen it all.
As far as run-scoring is considered the 13th edition of IPL saw three more entrants in the 5000 run club. The elite club consists of world-class players on the list with Suresh Raina the first person to enter the list.
Here we take a look at the players with more than 5000 runs in IPL history.
5. David Warner- 5037 runs
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner has been one of the most consistent players in the IPL. Warner also holds the record for most orange caps in the tournament with 3.
Warner recently became the fourth batsman in IPL history to complete 5000 runs. Warner has made 5037 runs in his IPL career even though missing out from one season due to a ban served during the Sand-paper controversy. Warner has one of the best IPL averages in the tournament with 43.05 runs.
4. Shikhar Dhawan- 5044 runs
Shikhar Dhawan became the first player in IPL history to score consecutive tons during the KXIP vs DC game of IPL 2020. Shikhar Dhawan slammed 101 versus Chennai Super Kings and later 106 versus KXIP.
With these scores, Dhawan also marched into the 5000 run club with 465 runs in the tournament. Overall he has scored 5044 runs at an average of 35.02 runs.
3. Rohit Sharma-5158 runs
Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful captains in the league and has won 4 titles with Mumbai Indians. The MI star-man is the third player in IPL to enter the 5000 run club.
Rohit currently has 5158 runs in IPL with 38 fifties and 1 century to his name. He has also hit 453 boundaries and 209 sixes in the process. Rohit is likely to rise even further in the list in the coming matches.
2. Suresh Raina-5368 runs
Suresh Raina became the first player to cross 5000 runs in IPL career during the 2019 season with CSK. Until the start of the IPL 2020, Raina was the highest run-getter of the Indian Premier League.
Unfortunately, Raina missed out on the tournament due to personal reasons. Raina has 5368 runs with a strike rate of 137.14. Raina also has 493 boundaries and 194 sixes in his IPL career.
1. Virat Kohli-5759 runs
RCB skipper Virat Kohli is leading the charts for most runs in IPL, after overtaking Suresh Raina in the 2020 edition of IPL. Virat currently has amassed 5759 runs in his IPL career and is very close to the 6000 run mark.
Virat also has 5 centuries in the tournament, only Chris Gayle has more centuries than Kohli with 6. He has 498 fours and 199 sixes to his name with an impressive average of 38.65.
