Kawhi met his partner Kishele Shipley at San Diego State University and they have been together ever since.

A 2016 ESPN interview referred to Shipley as Leonard's "fiancée." However, no official confirmation has been made regarding their engagement or marriage.

During the summer of 2016, Kawhi and Kishele became parents for the first time with the birth of Kaliyah. The couple welcomed their second child in 2019.
