In 2019, Kevin Garnett stirred up controversy on The Bill Simmons Podcast by claiming that the Boston Celtics caused LeBron James to leave his hometown team for the Miami Heat.

Speaking about his experiences playing against James in 2010 and 2012, Garnett said the Celtics didn't fear him and didn't think he could defeat all five of them.

Garnett's remarks faced backlash from the basketball community, including Shannon Sharpe, who slammed Garnett as a "fool" for claiming that the Celtics weren't afraid of James.

Garnett's criticism of James for forming a big three in Miami was deemed hypocritical by Sharpe, who noted Garnett did the same thing with the Celtics.

Sharpe criticized KG's remark that the Celtics didn't fear LeBron because they thought their five could beat him, highlighting LeBron's greatness and the negativity towards it.

Drawing comparisons, Sharpe cites Larry Bird and Michael Jordan to contrast Garnett's comment, stating "Larry Bird didn't say we broke Mike."
