Will Novak Djokovic play the 2022 US Open?

Novak Djokovic, who had a stellar 2021 season where he won 3 major titles, finds himself in a very uncomfortable situation this year because of his unvaccinated status

Djokovic's misery in 2022

Djokovic was deported from Australia and wasn't able to defend his Australian Open title and later couldn't compete in the Golden Swing due to the vaccination policy.

He had an average clay season but bounced back to win his 7th Wimbledon title- which was also his 21st major title. But as things stand, Djokovic won't be allowed to enter the USA due to the vaccination policy and will likely miss the North-American hard court swing.

"I was never against vaccination. But I’ve always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body. I understand that globally, everyone is trying to put a big effort into handling this virus and seeing, hopefully, an end soon to this virus"

When asked whether he's ready to miss tournaments due to his vaccination status, Djokovic said, "Yes, that is the price that I’m willing to pay."

There has been a lot of outburst over Djokovic not being allowed to play the US Open by politicians from the USA and fans over the world. So it will be interesting to see whether the Biden government will grant any exception to the Serbian maestro.
