LIV Golf has been struggling to get OWGR Points, as the battle between the Series and the PGA Tour continues to escalate. It is being considered by the OWGR board, but patience is running low.
“An OWGR without LIV would be incomplete and inaccurate,” said LIV Golf. However, there are a number of reasons why its more complicated than you think it might be.
The first issue comes with the format of the LIV Series, which consists of only 54 holes. The format is not consistent, and doesn't compare to the 72 hole standard format.
Secondly, since there are no cuts in the event, it is very unclear as to who is deserving of points. To add to that, the team system makes it even more confusing.
Lastly, the war between the PGA Tour and the LIV Series means that the latter does not have much support or basis to be a part of the official system. Will the issue ever be solved? Only time will tell.
