The Last of Us TV show is being deemed as one of the most perfect adaptation of any video game, as one is hardly able to notice the differences between the 2013 video game and the TV show that was released this Jan 2023.
THE BEGINNING- Video game- The Last of Us game starts at September 26,2013 which later turns out to be the birthday of Joel. Players then know about the fungal outbreak, until they take s leap of 10 years. TV show- The show starts on a different note as it is initially shown in a TV that there is going to be a fungal outbreak in 1968.
JOEL's TIME Video game- The time spent by Joel in the quarantine zone is not much focused in the game. Instead, the focus is on Robert whom Joel and Tess meet later on. TV Show- Joel's quarantine time zone is minutely shown here and by the time, Tess and he reaches to Robert, he is already dead.
SPORES Video game- A key difference in Last of Us game is the pores shown in front of the characters. Ellie's immunity power is known instantly as she is not affected with pores. TV Show- Instead of pores, viewers will encounter parasites that remind about the virus outbreak. Ellie's power is known much later.
JOEL LEAVING QUARANTINE ZONE Video game- In the game, it is due to Marlene that Tess and Joel are compelled to leave the quarantine zone and claim their weapons back, TV Show- On the other hand, Joel leaves the zone for his brother Tommy as he is in search of him. However, we aren't told how they got separated.
TESS's DEATH Video game- Tess's sacrifice is quite an interesting part as in the game, She reveals about her infection directly and asks Joel and Ellie to go away, until she is shot by a soldier in the Capitol building. TV Show- Tess sacrifices in the TV show as well but in a different method. She tries to distract everyone through the gasoline, and at the end she becomes the victim, leaving Joel and Ellie outside.
BILL AND FRANK Video game- Bill and Frank were quite close, until Frank hanged himself due to the infection. Bill will meet Joel and Ellie in Lincoln. TV show- In the show, Bill and Frank;s backstory will be shown in a different way, as confirmed by Hollywood Reporter.
The 3rd episode of The Last of Us titled 'Long Time' will be held on January 29th. Fans should look forward to point out more similarities and differences.
