The USTA National Tennis Center has registered its first positive COVID case just ahead of the Western and Southern Open and US Open events. A non-player has tested positive and is asymptomatic, revealed USTA.

The person is isolated, contract tracing initiated

The medical advisors confirmed a positive test result for an individual. A team from Mount Sinai Health System is currently working with USTA as its medical advisor.

The individual is isolated for at least 10 days as per the New York State Department of health requirements and guidelines. A contract tracing is initiated to determine if any other person must quarantine for 14 days.

The Western and Southern Open will begin at the New York site this week. The US Open is going to start on 31 August. Multiple stars players are not participating in the second grand slam of the year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Defending champion of both draws Rafael Nadal and Bianca Andreescu are not playing. Players like Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are among the stars who are taking part in this tournament.
