On Saturday, the Archery Association of India (AAI) has informed that they are in touch with sports ministry to avail the treatment of illness to Limba Ram, who is suffering from neuro-degenerative disease. Limba is a three-time Olympian.

Due to the complete nationwide lockdown, he was not able to manage the injections and his legs started swelling. For more than a year, Limba and his wife are staying at the hostel of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Pramod Chandurkar, the secretary of AAI told, “I informed the AAI president (Arjun Munda) immediately after knowing about his condition. Our team has already got in touch with them and we are making the necessary arrangements.”

Before lockdown, Limba was being treated in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). Then after he has been referred to GB Pant Hospital. In 1992, Limba won a bronze medal in Barcelona Olympics.

Chandurkar said, “But it’s not feasible for them to go there and get him treated regularly so we have requested the sports ministry to make alternative arrangements for the treatment of Limba.”

In Commonwealth Games 2010 which has been held in New Delhi Limba coached and guided India to have three gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
