
The Planning Committee of Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced that it has decided to prepare a new domestic calendar for senior grade athletes as most of the international competitions worldwide, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been postponed due to the Novel Corona-virus pandemic.
The committee said that it will prepare a new competition calendar as well as a new fresh training program for national players after discussing the same with coaches and foreign experts.

AFI President Adille J Sumariwalla has stated in a statement, “Under the new circumstances and postponement of the Olympic Games, the complete domestic calendar of the year 2020 needs to be changed, especially, the senior competitions. Besides competitions, we have also asked coaches to start reworking on their training programs.”
Earlier, AFI has also postponed the Indian Grand Prix or IGP series as well as the Senior’s Federation Cup which was prior scheduled to be held from 10th to 13th of April in Patiala, Punjab.
Until now there have been 979 cases of this virus in the country, including 48 foreigners. While there are 867 active cases in the country, in the remaining 112 cases 25 people have lost their lives and 87 have recovered. World Health Organisation declared the Novel Coronavirus a pandemic on March 11.
