Alexander Zverev, second seed at Acapulco Open continued his domination in the tournament as he outplayed his rival, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. Going into the final, with an inferior head-to-head record, Alexander Zverev avenged his five consecutive losses against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The German did not drop a single set this week en-route to his first title of the season.

Alexander Zverev joined the Elite club of tennis players who have managed to win atleast one ATP title every year. The German has now won atleast one title in every season since 2016. The world number seven joins the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem in this club.

Zverev will now look to translate his success on the ATP Tour into Grandslam titles. He lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open last month, and will look forward to the rest of the season.

Alexander Zverev impressive show on ATP Tour continues

Alexander Zverev lifted his maiden career title at the Petersburg Open in 2016. In 2017, the German had his best season so far as he won five ATP titles including two Masters titles. In 2018, he won four titles including the Nitto ATP Finals title. In 2019, he could manage to win just one title. Last year, the world number seven won two back to back titles in Cologne.

Rafael Nadal has won an ATP title every year since 2004, whereas, Novak Djokovic has won a title every year since 2005. Dominic Thiem, another NextGen player has won a title every year since 2015. Alexander Zverev now shifts his attention to the Miami Open, where he has a good chance of winning the title after several top players have withdrawn. His best performance at the Miami Open came in 2018, when he finished as the runner-up, losing to John Isner in the final.
