The eight teams bidding to finish on top are — Mate Pavic and Bruno SoaresRam and Salisbury, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic, Lukas Kubot and Marcelo Melo, and Jurgen Melzer and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Salisbury and Ram won the Australian Open at the start of the year and their aims at the ATP Finals are now higher. However, the pair was defeated by the Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic.

The Dutch-Croatian pairing has already booked their place in the semi-finals in London with the hope to end the year on the top. The fifth seeds beat German third seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in the opening match on Sunday which was Koolhof’s first ATP Finals win.

“[The nerves] feel good so far, I would say,” Koolhof said. “For me, it’s my debut year and so far things have been going great. The first match was a very close one. Let’s hope we’ll be on top at the end of the weekend,” he added.

Meanwhile, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos edged closer to the semi-finals with a tough victory over top seeds Bruno Soares and Mate Pavic. After defeating John Peers and Mark Venus earlier in the week, the fourth seeds, Granollers and Zeballos will qualify automatically from Group Bob Bryan if Peers and Venus beat Jurgen Melzer and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in Wednesday’s evening session.

ATP Finals doubles competition promises to be an extremely close contest as Ram and Salisbury square-off against Krawietz and Mies in a group decider on Thursday. The number one will soon be revealed as matches proceed.

The top two teams in each group will reach the semifinals. This year’s groups are named after Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who retired in August.
