Eugenie Bouchard has been that sort of player who has failed to live up to her promise. Not long ago a Wimbledon finalist and World No.5, Bouchard has dropped to a very low 330th rank. She has even faced a 13-match losing streak as recently in 2019.

Nevertheless, her love for the sport is immense and she is finding new ways to find her mojo back. During the lockdown, the Canadian shifted her training base from Prague to Las Vegas.

Formerly training under the guidance of former World No.1 in doubles Rennae Stubbs, Eugenie found a perfect trio of coaches in Vegas. They are none other than renowned fitness coach Gill Reyes and legendary couple, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

I have a really cool team in Las Vegas: Eugenie Bouchard

In a recent podcast with Tennis.com, Bouchard told about the experience of working with Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

“Felt like my physical game was not up to the mark, so shifted my base to Las Vegas. I can’t express how I am feeling right now working with legends like Agassi and Graf. Well it’s not every day that you love your routine but that side-to-side drills are just fantastic. Credit goes to my time, which I think is pretty cool!” said Eugenie, clearly sounding elated with her new training regime.

Bouchard further added the need of a female coach. “Yeah it is important. A male coach finds it tough to understand a woman’s emotions during the competition,” said the Canadian.

Gill Reyes is also impressed with his ward’s dedication. “She looks to be ready for everything. This is a great quality as I don’t say these words really often. The standards set by me are quite tough to overcome, but Eugenie is one player who always looks to breach them.” said Bouchard’s fitness coach, Reyes.

This change in coaches is certainly yielding result as last week, Eugenie Bouchard claimed a victory over World No.40 Veronika Kudermetova in Prague Open. The win can really be a confidence-booster for the Canadian going into other tournaments. Hopefully, the trio of Reyes, Agassi, and Graf will bring out the best from Bouchard in the near future!
