Three time Grand Slam winner and former World no.1 Andy Murray believes Domic Thiem’s US Open 2020 win was not deserved. Murray seems to think that if Novak Djokovic was not disqualified, for hitting a lines woman with the ball, he may well have gone on to win the US Open title.

Djokovic was disqualified in the Quarter Finals against Pablo Carreño Busta. Djokovic certainly could have won that match. In the Semis he would have faced Zverev who again is a beatable opponent for Novak Djokovic. A Dominic Thiem vs Novak Djokovic Final could go either way but on most days it would go Djokovic’s way. So what Murray is saying does have credibility.

Murray himself took on the big three at the prime of their careers, and won three Grand Slams competing against the trio of Roger, Novak and Nadal. Unfortunately he has suffered some career threatening injuries in the last few years and now finds himself out of form and languishing outside the top 100.

Murray found it hard to watch the Australian Open, and only watched some highlights of certain matches. Andy Murray was all set to compete at the Australian Open 2021, but a last minute COVID positive report put water on those plans. Murray even went to the extent of unfollowing some of his fellow tennis players to stop getting any Australian open news. Since then he had started playing in the challenger tournaments to boost his rankings and keep himself busy.
