Andy Murray pulls out of Dubai Open after birth of his fourth child, eyes Miami comeback

Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Dubai Open which takes place next week. In some good news for Murray fans, this time it is not an injury which has led to the withdrawal as Murray and his partner, Kim Sears have welcomed their fourth child. The Brit was expected to play the Dubai Open next week, but he has confirmed that he will spend time with his family instead.

The three time Grandslam champion is expected to return to action at the Miami Open, according to tennis journalist, Stuart Fraser. Miami Open begins on March 22 and will be one of the last tournaments on hard courts, before the focus shifts onto the clay court season. Murray is expected to get a wildcard to compete in Miami.

Andy Murray last played at the Rotterdam Open where he was defeated in the second round by the eventual champion, Andrey Rublev in straight sets.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal also out of Dubai Open

Rafael Nadal revealed on Thursday that he had been offered a wildcard to play at Dubai Open. However, given his back issues, he decided to decline the offer and instead focus on the clay court season.

Roger Federer who made his comeback this week in Doha, has also decided to withdraw from the Dubai Open, next week. The Swiss maestro was defeated by Nikoloz Basilashvili in three sets in the quarterfinals of Qatar Open on Thursday.

“It’s been great to be back on the ATP Tour, loved every minute playing in Doha once again. A big thank you to the best and loyal team that helped me get here. I’ve decided it’s best to go back to training and as a result, I’ve decided to withdraw from Dubai next week,” Federer wrote on Twitter.
