Real Madrid, on Thursday, clinched their 34th league title by registering a 2-1 victory over Villareal. Karim Benzema scored twice in a game against Villareal as they sealed their second title triumph under coach Zinedine Zidane.
Fans all across the globe flooded Twitter with congratulatory messages and many well-known sports persons also joined the bandwagon.
One of them was India’s limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma, who is an ardent Madrid fan.
Rohit, on the occasion of Madrid’s title triumph, congratulated them and said that it was a ‘good news’ in a year that has been filled with shortcomings due to COVID-19 defeat.
“Another title in the bag. Real Madrid truly came together as a team during these tough times. Congratulations!” Rohit, who is the La Liga ambassador in India, said in a tweet.
“Finally some good news in a year that is severely lacking any,” he added. The Mumbai Indians skipper was all set to clamp the field in the thirteenth edition of the IPL.
However, the league was suspended for an ambiguous period following the COVID-19 explosion across the globe. India has now crossed 1 million COVID-19 positive cases and the feasibility of the IPL looks miserable at the moment.
However, the BCCI has stated that they’re trying their best to host the league in the latest stage of the year.
