The former Arsenal legend suggested Mikel Arteta to add “a few quality players” for 2020-2021 campaign. Sol Campbell said “ Arteta needs to strengthen the “spine” of his side”. Major changes are required in defense as the current quality of defenders is not up to the mark.
In an interview Campbell added “I think some of the young players are playing really well so maybe two or three. Definitely have to look at the center-half area, that situation, the spine of the team is always important”.
Former Nice center – back Malang Sarr is on Arsenal’s radar as a possible move can take place. The lack consistency in defense has made Arsenal loose vital points despite their efforts.
Mesut Ozil might also be on his way out due the dip in performances in the current campaign. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future also remains uncertain as the in-form goal scorer is yet to sign a new contract.
Campbell expects the club to back Mikel Arteta during the summer transfer window. The Former defender expects the club to invest in new sets of player. He said “But then you come down to quality, you can’t replace quality and he’s alluded to that. Arteta might need some finances and he doesn’t know if the finances are going to be there.
“If he can get a little bit and can buy a few quality players and do some good deals, or move people on and open something for someone to come in, why not?
