Former Indian international cricketer Ashoke Dinda announced his retirement today from all forms of cricket. The pacer, one of the most consistent performers in the domestic circuit for Bengal played in 13 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India picking up 12 and 17 wickets apiece. He played all his matches for India during the period from 2009 to 2011 and after some below-par performances was dropped from the side.

He was one of the bowling greats for Bengal in the domestic circuit as he picked up 417 wickets in 115 matches at an excellent average of 28 which in India on spinning tracks is commendable. He also returned 26 five-wicket hauls and 5 ten-wicket hauls in his first-class career.

Dinda had moved to Goa recently

After playing for over a decade for Bengal, Dinda had announced surprisingly that he was moving to Goa for the upcoming domestic season. He also featured for the side in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixtures. But now, with the Ranji Trophy canceled, it seems like Dinda has taken his decision to quit the game. He communicated the same in a media interaction he called for.

Earlier in August, the Cricket Association of Bengal had issued a NOC to Dinda to play for another state and the decision to switch teams was speculated to be due to a fallout with Bengal’s bowling coach Ranadeb Bose which led to strict action being taken against the pacer. He was not allowed to play for the rest of the season due to the same.
