Asian Wrestling Championship: Ashu and Aditya Kundu will play for Bronze

On day 2 of Asian Wrestling Championship four wrestler were in competition for India. In 60kg Gyanender, Ashu in 67kg, Aditya Kundu in 72kg and Harpreet Singh Sandhu in 82kg category of greco roman wrestling. But none of them able to reach finals today.

Ashu lost in semifinal

India has started on a good note on day 2 after Ashu made it to the semi-finals of the 67kg category as he thrashed Fu Hao Lin of Chinese Taipei in the last 8 bout. Ashu won the bout easily by 10-0.

In the semi-finals Ashu lost to World championship silver medalist Makhmud Bakhshilloev of Uzbekistan. Bakhshilloev won the Rome Ranking series gold and also won the world championships silver medal in 2019.

Aditya will compete for Bronze

In 72kg category, Aditya Kundu reached semifinal stage but lost to Ibragim Magomadov in semifinals. Before that he won first match against Alijon Khuseynov in qualifications. Then he defeated Loiqi Amirkhonzoda in quarterfinal.

Gyanender thrashed by Fumita

2019 Asian Championship bronze medallist Gyanender had a bad day in office as he lost to world champion Kenichiro Fumita of Japan. In the 60kg quarterfinal bout, Fumita defeated Indian in under 2 minutes by 9-0.

Harpreet in 82 kg category.

Earlier in the 82kg category, India’s Harpreet Singh Sandhu started the second day of the Sr. Asian Wrestling Championship on a positive note as he defeated Japanese Satoki Mukai by 6-1 but lost out the second round robin bout. The 82kg category is played on round robin format and Harpreet still stands a chance to finish on the podium.
