India won four medal on day three of Asian wrestling championship. Three female wrestler Sarita Mor, Divya kakran, Pinki won gold and Nirmala Devi won silver today. Before that Navjot Kaur was the only female wrestler to win gold in 2018.
Sarita More wins Gold
Sarita defeated Battsetseg ALTANTSETSEG of Mangolia in final match to win third gold for India. She won final by close margin of 3-2. Sarita More enters final in the 59kg category after beating Japanese wrestler Yuumi Kon by 10-3.
In quarterfinal she defeated Nazira Marsbek Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan comprehensively by a margin of 11-0. Earliar she thrashed Kazak wrestler Madina.B by 10-0 in her first round encounter.
Pinki wins Gold in 55kg
Pinki defeated Mangolian wrestler Dulguun Bolormaa in final of 55kg by 2-1. This was second Gold of the day and 3rd overall. She became third women wrestler overall to win Gold at Asian Wrestling championship.
In final both wrestler were too defensive and points were scored due to passivity. But her opponent tried to score in dying seconds but failed and Pinki bagged Gold for India.
Pinki started off positively and secured first win of the day for India in round 1 of the 55kg category. She defeated Shokhida Akhmedova of Uzbekistan by 12-4 followed by victory over Japanese Kana Higashikawa in a close fight by 2-2.
Then in her semifinal match she thrashed Marina Zuyrva of Kazakhstan by 6-0.
Gold for Divya Kakran
Divya had five opponents in the fray and the bouts were fought in the round-robin format. Divya had straight wins against four of her opponents easily to win the top honour. She started with 6-0 victory over Albina KAIRGELDINOVA (KAZ) in first round.
In second round she defeated Delgermaa ENKHSAIKHAN of Mangolia by 11-2. She was so dominating in all matches.In third round she thrashed Azoda ESBERGENOVA of Uzbekistan win by 8-0 and then in final round she fought well against the Japanese wrestler Naruha MATSUYUKI to win the close battle,
Nirmala Devi wins Silver
Nirmala Devi lost to 2018 Under 23 World Champion Miho IGARASHI of Japan in gold medal match. Both the wrestlers were eyeing their first Asian Championship gold medal but the Japanese won the close battle by narrow margin of 3-2.
Nirmala Devi gave a commanding performance in the semi-finals to boo her place in finals. She defeated Uzbekistan’s wrestler Dauletbike Yakhshimuratova by 10-0.
Earlier she defeated Munkhnar Byambasuren of Mongolia in the quarterfinals in a close contest by 6-4 to reach the semis. In the semi-finals she got the better of Dauletbike YAKHSHIMURATOVA of Uzbekistan by 10-0.
