Aslan Karatsev announced himself on the big stage at the Australian Open this year. The Russian made it to the main draw of the Australian Open after winning three qualifying round matches.

However, his journey did not end there. Karatsev reached the semifinals in Melbourne where he was finally defeated by Novak Djokovic.

The Russian continued his fine form this season as he lifted his first career ATP title in Dubai last week. Karatsev defeated Lloyd Harris of South Africa in straight sets in the final.

He also ended his fellow countryman, Andrey Rublev’s run of 23 consecutive wins at ATP 500 events after defeating him in the semifinals.

Aslan Karatsev shares his happiness on social media

Aslam Karatsev recently took to twitter and instagram to showcase his happiness.

He wrote: “There are no words to describe how happy I am to celebrate my first ATP title in Dubai! Thanks to my team, my family, the fans supporting from home and @salahtahlak and Dubai Duty Free for giving me the wild card!”

During the press conference after the final, Karatsev was asked how he felt about joining the likes of Roger FedererRafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic on the elusive list of champions at Dubai to which he replied that he feels privileged.

Aslan Karatsev praised his young Russian team-mates, Daniil Medvevdev and Andrey Rublev. The duo are ranked inside the top 10. After his triumph, Karatsev will hop into the top 30 of the world.
