Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Sports Ministry have guaranteed all the athletes and specially those who are going to perform in 2021 Tokyo Olympics that not to loose focus from the game and to be mentally prepared.
Target Olympic Podium Scheme Secretariat (TOPS) have started providing equipments to not only TOPS athletes but the core probables for Tokyo 2020 also since the lockdown has been started on 23 March.
Equipments have been provided to the 107 athletes according to their needs so that they can practice by staying at home.
SAI told in a statement, “A total of 107 athletes (including para-athletes) were mapped for their requirements towards their training at home. The equipment requirements of all the athletes were collected and mapped according to SAI regional centres.”
Around 43 requests were received from the athletes, and with the help of SAI Regional Centres, state governments and NGOs, out of which, half of the demands have been fulfilled.
Dumbbells and other training equipments have been provided to Wrestler Bajrang Punia, Wrestler Sunil, Saurarh Chaudhary, Manu Bhaker, Divyansh Panwar, Yashaswni Deswal.
Along with them shooter Sanjeev Rajput, boxer Lovelina, Simranjeet and Ashish have been provided physical training equipments. Jayanti Behra, track and para field has been provided exercise bikes.
