The Evering Road singer-songwriter Tom Grennan has struck a close friendship with Olympic champion turned musician Usain Bolt after they both participated in the Soccer Aid 2022 earlier this month in London. Grennan played for the English team while Bolt simultaneously captained the Rest of the World team. Bolt released his debut album ‘Country Yutes’ last year with his own record label, 9.58 Records.
Bolt told The Sun’s ‘Bizzare’ column, “We are still working on our rhyme right now. Next year we will do an album. We are still trying to get my name out there for music as people still don’t take it seriously,” Bolt told news sources. “Then I’ll try to put out another album. Music is just a part of me,” he concluded.
“I’d like to do more collaborations”
Bolt continued, talking about what music means to him. “Music is just a part of me. In lockdown I wasn’t doing much so I thought I could take the opportunity to get into music as it is something I love to do. I’d like to do more collaborations on the road”. Grennan also spoke about the roles that they play while making the music together.
“Usain is a producer, I am a singer. When he is doing his album I am flying to Jamaica 100 per cent”. After he retired from competitive athletics in 2017 after the World Championships, Bolt launched a new music career in 2020, dropping a remix of Ultimate Rejects’ track ‘Energy To Burn”. Meanwhile, Grennan spoke to NME about his recent attack ordeal in New York City as well as revealed that the work on his third studio album is nearly complete. He said that the record would arrive ‘this side of the year’ after he did ‘a little but more production stuff’.
“One thing I can say is that it’s a different direction and a different chapter,” Grennan told NME. “One door has closed and another one is open”. Bolt recently spoke about how he dealt with the competition. “Competition is not the reality. The work is behind the scene. Competition is the easy part.”
