Athletics Results: Ancy Sojan double gold, MP leading the table in Athletics at Khelo India Youth Games 2020

On super Sunday we saw plenty of records broken in athletics. Ancy Sojan of Kerala gave her personal best in U-21 category long jump. She jumped 6.36m to break U-21 record while her closest competitor Sherin Abdul Gafoor won silver with 6.30 jump. All here jump were more than 6m – 6.11, 6.36, 6.29, 6.08 and 6.13.

She also won 100m gold in U-21 girls category with timing of 12:21 followed by Rajashree Prasad claimed silver with timing 12:27 seconds.

In U-17 boys 100m Sadanand Kumar of Jharkhand won gold with timing of 10:95 seconds. While Akash Singh of Maharastra finished second.

In Girls U-17 category Ruthika Saravana of Tamilnadu and Jeevanji Deepthi of Telangana, both clocked 12:26 seconds in 100m dash. In the close finish Deepti won gold with 3/1000 of a second. Interestingly U-17 girls timing were close to U-21 girls category in 100m.

Haryana’s Nuzrat Ali won the gold in boys U-21 category with timing of 10:77 seconds.

Madhya Pradesh topped the table in track and field replacing Haryana and Kerala with overall 10 medals (five gold). However on Sunday no athlete from MP had a podium finish. Haryana has won four gold while Kerala has won three gold in athletics.
