Atletico Madrid continued their winning form in La liga as they brushed past SA Huesca with a 2-0 margin. Atletico are still in control of the La liga and maintained their 2 point lead over Real Madrid.

Goals from Angel Correa and Yannick Carrasco in each half helped Atletico overcome a determined Huesca side. Earlier Atletico had lost their lead at the top of La Liga as Real Madrid defeated Cadiz in their mid-week match.

Atletico were coming off a 5-0 rout of bottom placed Eibar after two consecutive setbacks had allowed Real and Barcelona to move closer to the top.

Angel Correa provided the breakthrough for Rojiblancos just before half-time.  He made his way past the Huesca defenders and his shot took a wicked deflection to settle in the back of the net.

Yannick Carrasco tapped in from close range, to double Atletico’s advantage after Marcos Llorente’s pass had drawn the opposition apart.

Atletico boss Simeone said: “La Liga is very complex, we cannot relax, tomorrow we will take care of the Bilbao game.”

He added: “There are four teams close to being able to close a great season, Sevilla are doing well, Madrid responded well yesterday and Barcelona are playing now.

“We are to think game by game and we are not going to change now. We think about the next game and we will try to move it forward.”

The La Liga title race is bound to go down to the wire this season as all the top 4 teams have a chance of winning the title this year. The Top-4 teams are separated only by 6 points from each other.
