The quarter-final match between Bublik and Ruud is a rather unprecedented one. No one expected them to get this far in the tournament. Alexander Bublik is on a strong run, having defeated big names in Denis Shapovalov and Aslan Karatsev en route his quarter-final appearance.

Particularly in the Round of 16, he displayed a clinical performance against the in form Russian. He got the better of Karatsev in straight sets 6-3,6-4 to set up a clash with Ruud.

As for Casper Ruud, his purple patch just gets better and better. He is yet to drop a set in the tournament and has defeated the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Stefanos Tsitsipas this week.

In the Round of 16 match against World No.5 Tsitsipas, the Norwegian showed some solid groundstrokes and combined it with elegant movement on court. He smashed the Greek in straight sets 7-6(4),6-4.

This will be the only QF matchup in Madrid between two unseeded players but promises to be an exciting one. Both have caused huge upsets in the previous rounds and would want to secure a maiden semi-final appearance in Madrid.

Ruud will go in as the favorite to win it, given his recent success in Monte-Carlo. A huge win over Tsitsipas would’ve given him immense confidence and he has a fancy change of making another Masters 1000 semi-final in a month. Expect him to cruise into the Final 4 easily.

Prediction: Ruud to win in straight sets.
