Marin Cilic vs Federico Coria: Preview
Cilic is a player of proven pedigree who has been ranked as high as no.3 in the World. Winner of 18 ATP Titles, Cilic has also won the US Open in 2014. Cilic though has been out of the top 40 for more than a year now, and the start of this season has not been great for him either.
He was ousted in the very first round at the Australian Open, and later in the Mexican Open as well. But, in between he reached the Semifinals of the Singapore Open, where he lost to Alexei Popyrin 6-7 6-7. His first round opponent at the Miami Open is Federico Coria. Coria is Argentinian and understandably clay is his favourite surface.
This season, Coria has done his best on clay, reaching the Semifinals of the Cordoba Open where he lost to Juan Manuel Cerundolo 4-6 6-4 2-6. At the Chile Open where he last played, Coria was beaten in the second round by Juan Pablo Varillas, 4-6 6-7.
Marin Cilic vs Federico Coria: Head-to-Head
Cilic and Coria haven’t met on the tour before, so the head to head stands at 0-0.
Marin Cilic vs Federico Coria: Prediction
Cilic on his best day is as good as anyone on the tour, but he is not in his best form right now. Hardcourt though is his favourite surface as it compliments his big serve, and heavy forehand and backhand beautifully. Coria has an uphill task awaiting him in the very first match.
Match Prediction: Marin Cilic will beat Federico Coria in three sets.
