Alexander Zverev vs Ilya Ivashka: Preview

Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev had a good start to the 2021 season. He reached the quarter-final of the Australian Open and also reached the final at Acapulco. However, he has suffered early exits at both of his last two tournaments – the Miami Masters and the Monte Carlo Masters due to injuries.

In Munich this week, he has gotten off the blocks well. After getting a first round bye, he defeated Ricardas Berankis in straight sets 6-2,6-4. The German moved well on court and served pretty well.

As for his opponent, Ilya Ivashka, he had to go through the Qualifiers first. He has had a good week so far, defeating the likes of Emil Ruusuvuori and Mackenzie McDonald. He came from a set down to defeat the American.

Alexander Zverev vs Ilya Ivashka: Prediction

Alexander Zverev

Zverev seems to have found his lost form and has looked phenomenal on court this week. He served well in his Round of 16 match and would want to carry the same momentum in the last 8 too.

Ivashka has some serious powerful groundstrokes that give him a lot of attacking options from inside the baseline. His big forehands can trouble the top guys too. But it may just not be enough to trouble the tall German. Expect the top seed to cruise into the semi-finals.

Prediction: Zverev to win in straight sets.
