ATP chairman, Andrea Gaudenzi talks about ATP tour resumption

After waiting for a long time, an enthusiastic vibe chopped up in some players, when the ATP announced tennis will be returning in 2020.

Although it raised some concerns among the players especially after the Adria tour disaster, as ATP came out with incredible grueling for the rest of the year.

ATP chairman, Andrea Gaudenzi, in a rec Q-A session published in ATP’s website, admitted that the season is not ideal. He also talked about the revised schedule.

“We realize that the resumption of calendar is not perfect by any means. We would live to have more events and more playing opportunities, and more space between our marquee events to ease player scheduling.” Gaudenzi said.

”Our judgment was that we need to start somewhere and if we have tournaments at the top level. So that are able to run in a safe environment. While providing earning opportunities not only for players but for the whole industry, well that’s a start.” Gaudenzi further added.

The chairman replied to all those players who were asking why tennis is being played in 2020, instead of 2021 in the pandemic.

However, The tour might cancel following what happened at Novak Djokovic’s Adria tour. But the ATP is looking forward to stricken their safety measures, although the ATP hasn’t announced anything yet. It might be possible looking at the concern of players the tour might reschedule.

As for now each and everyone would be hoping and wishing for infected player’s quick recovery.
