Richard Lewis, Wimbledon chief has criticized the latest happening in tennis, ‘The Adria Tour’.
He said, ‘Images of players hugging at the net, playing basketball together and partying at Novak Djokovic’s charity exhibition in Serbia and Croatia were “disappointing”. Also, from this, tennis must learn a lesson’.
Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, and Viktor Troicki after playing in the Adria tour got contacted with the novel coronavirus. However, Novak got criticised from all ends especially after the images and video of players got viral.
Along with everyone, Lewis also hopes that everyone makes a speedy recovery. However, the mistakes of the event must not be repeated, as he told British media.

“The images were disappointing and I think that… what needs to come out of it is everybody involved. Not just players but administrators, organizers, entourages – understands that the protocols, rules, and regulations are in place for a reason. That’s a really important lesson to learn”
To the virus outbreak, the professional season which was supposed to be held in early March, was forced to suspended and then the greatest Wimbledon Championship was canceled.
The next on the calendar is the U.S Open Grand Slam Championship. And After the Adria tour mishap, the organizers are all set to tighten the safety measures.
But according to some top players, including Djokovic had initially called those measures, “extreme”.

Lewis urged the athletes to play a bigger leadership role, with Serbian World No.1 heading the men’s players council.
“I would hope from an organisers’ point of view – let’s say the U.S Open and Roland Garros, but also the other international tournaments – that protocols will be easier to enforce and observed than they otherwise might have been. I sincerely hope that when international tennis tournaments resume, the sport will be more disciplined and follow the protocols in place that whatever tournament is being staged at the time,” said Lewis.
