Similarly, an aspirant for the berth, Karen Khachanov lost the first round of the ATP Erste Bank Open. The Russian Karen Khachanov failed to register a win against Grigor Dimitrov, who won in straight sets 7-6(6), 6-3.

Karen Khachanov and Dimitrov clash was expected to be a big match. Much like the expectations, the duo delivered a thrilling neck to neck tennis. They decided the opening set by a seven-point tie break and Dimitrov took forth the momentum to set 2.
This loss means that Khachanov will not qualify for the London tour. Holding a world rank of 18 at the moment, Khachanov made the quarters of 2 ATP tournaments he played post the round of 16 defeat at the French Open. Khachanov lost the ATP 500 at St Petersburg and European Open in the quarters.
Dimitrov into round 16 will face the winner of Jan-Lennard Struff or Stefanos Tsitsipas. Dimitrov is ranked number 20 in the world. If he succeeds to make into the finals, he is assured to see a jump in the rankings.
