Kontaveit overcame Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in her first round match. Winning it in straight sets 7-5 6-2. In her second round she defeated British player Heather Watson 6-7 6-4 6-2. Rogers though was much more comprehensive in her first two rounds, she won both in straight sets. 6-4 6-1 against Francesca Jones in the first, and 6-2 6-3 against Olga Danilović in the second.
