Dominic Thiem vs Grigor Dimitrov: Preview

Austrian Dominic Thiem is coming off an epic 5-set encounter in the 3rd round against local Nick Kyrgios. It was probably the match of the year so far as the world no.3 came back from 2 sets to love down to defeat the Aussie 4-6,4-6,6-3,6-4,6-4.
Thiem is one of the main title contender at Melbourne and so far he has shown immense grit. He defeated Kukushkin and Koepfer in the initial two rounds before defeating Kyrgios in the third to reach the Round of 16.
His opponent, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov had a relatively tough draw. But the former world no.3 has battled past every challenge. He defeated both Marin Cilic and Alex Bolt in the first couple of rounds in straight sets.
His 3rd round clash with Pablo Carreno Busta was to be a tricky one but that did not happen at all for him as PCB had to withdraw from the match while trailing by a set. Dimitrov was 6-0, 1-0 up against his Spanish opponent before the latter retired because of illness having taken a medical time-out earlier in the match.

Dominic Thiem vs Grigor Dimitrov: Prediction

Thiem will be tired after a long match against Kyrgios while on the contrary, Dimitrov had to spend just 38 minutes in his 3rd round match. But the players will have almost 48 hours before they battle again.
Dimitrov will push Thiem to his limits but the third seed may just have enough fire-power to get past the Bulgarian. Expect a tight match with a lot of forehand winners.
