Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka faced off against Caroline Garcia of France in the second round on the third day of the Australian Open 2021. The latter came into the match as the more experienced player of the two and this was the duo’s first ever meeting with the Frenchwoman not cutting any corners in her challenge.

However, Naomi Osaka bested her as expected to win the match with a score of 6-2,6-3 and made her way in to the round of 32.

In the first set, Osaka started with a game win which was quickly balanced by Garcia making the score 1-1. Osaka then through some amazing volleys got the score to 4-1. And after losing another game, Osaka struck back with some aces to make it 5-2 before following up with some smart play from the baseline to take the set 6-2.

By the second set, Osaka had Garcia dead and buried on a few stats. Naomi took a few losses but she struck back with her strong service games and volleys. The set was won by Osaka with the score 6-3.

In the post match Interview, Osaka expressed her gratitude on being able to play at night. She thanked her fans for the support. On being asked about her night time activities in Australia, she said that she mostly stays in her room and watches Netflix. About her next opponent Ons Jabeur she stated that she knows that it would be difficult but assured that she would do her best.
