
Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams faced off once again in the semifinals of the Australian Open 2021. The pair had previously faced off at A Day At The Drive event where Serena took the win. Their head to head stood at two-all and that was more than telling about the match. However, today we saw Osaka take a lead in the head-to-head with an absolute show of dominance.
The match was won by Naomi Osaka with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Naomi Osaka proves to be too much for Serena Williams
The first set saw both the players match each other until Osaka took a breakpoint at 2-2 and went on to extend it to 4-2. With Osaka on the service, she was able to get another game from Serena making it 5-2. Williams tried to hit back but Osaka was able to take the game 6-3.
The second set saw Osaka take a two to love lead on Serena the last game coming to her after two consecutive aces. Williams was able to get a lead but Osaka came back and retook the lead making it 5-4. And then took the set and match with 6-4.
In the post-match interview, When asked about the match, Osaka said that playing against Williams is like a dream to her as she had watched her since she was a kid. She also made a joke about finding out Tsitsipas won against Nadal after she ate some Greek food.
