Novak Djokovic was at his imperious best as he went past Jeremy Chardy in his first round match 6-3 6-1 6-2 . This was Novak’s fifteenth straight win in the Australian Open, a streak which dates back to last year’s Open. With this victory, Novak advances to the second round of the Australian Open 2021. In the second round he will face American Frances Tiafoe.
Jeremy Chardy had no answers to questions asked by Novak Djokovic
Novak served brilliantly, with first serve percentages touching 90%, and then returned equally well. Chardy could get in only 50% of his first serves. Which put a massive load on his second serve and his overall service game. This was a clear strategy by the Novak camp, to put pressure on the Chardy serve. Novak also made sure that he hit that extra ball every time, tiring Chardy down in the process.
An absolute master class by Novak Djokovic who did not drop a set or a service game in this first round match. The Serbian looks well set to defend his Australian Open crown.
