Australian Open 2021: Top seed Ashleigh Barty crashes out after losing to Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals

World No.1 Ashleigh Barty took on World No.21 Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2021. This is the second meeting between the two players. Ashleigh Barty was a favorite going into the match. However, Muchova gave it all she had and was able to take the match by 1-6,6-2,6-2.

Muchova through to the semifinals

Barty took the lead in the first set, by winning three consecutive games to make it 3-0. Barty continued to dominate the set to make it 5-0. Barty then took the set with 6-1.

The second set started out similar to the first set, Barty again raced ahead with two games to nil score. However, Muchova was able to equalize to make it a tie at 2-2. And then took the lead with 2-3, She maintained the lead to make it 3-4. She then took the match 6-3.

The third set started differently with Muchova taking the lead with 1-0. Muchova looked very dominant as she took a lead of 3-1. She maintained a lead of two games over Ashleigh Barty making it 4-2, She went on to take the set and match with 6-2.

In the post-match interview, When asked about her match Muchova said that Barty played without any flaws and after the first set she had to play faster rallies. She did not comment anything when asked about her next opponent.
