Brady edged Karolina Muchova 6-4,3-6,6-4 and stormed into her first grand slam final. She will play Osaka in Saturday’s final after the world number three earlier ended Serena Williams‘ bid for a record-equalling 24th major title 6-3,6-4.

Muchova showed her gutsy win over Ash Barty was no fluke, coming back from a scratchy opening set to level the match and push the contest to the brink.

“I’ll be nervous but I’m going to be super-excited.”: Jennifer Brady

I can’t feel my legs, my legs are shaking, my heart is racing,” Brady said in the post-match interview.

She continued, “After the first set I was like okay let’s try and focus here Jenny. [When] I came out a little it was feeling a little strange today you know I was super excited but at the same time I was pretty flat-footed.”

I felt my legs felt fresh but at the same time they just weren’t moving. I felt like I was stuck in mud so I didn’t really pick up my intensity until the beginning of the third set.

Brady set up a rematch of last year’s epic US Open semi-final, where Japan’s Osaka prevailed in three sets.

I’m obviously pretty excited to be in the finals here at the Australian Open. It’s an incredible achievement but yeah I think it’ll be a really tough match obviously.“, she said.

She’s won a few grand slams. We had a tough match at the U.S open in the semifinals. I think she even said that it was one of her top two matches which was a little bit unfortunate for me at the time but I think it’ll be a really good match and yeah I hope you guys can come out and enjoy it.“, she concluded.
