Rising Badminton Stars: 16-Year-Old Tasnim Mir Wins Bulgarian Junior Open International Series; Lakshya Sen wins Bronze in Victor Denmark Masters

16-year-old Indian badminton sensation Tasnim Mir grabbed the gold medal at the Bulgarian Junior Open International Series, while Laskhya Sen took home the bronze medal in the Victor Denmark Open. Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy took Home silver at the Badminton Denmark Open.

16-year-old Tasnim Mir of India has proved to be a rising star in badminton, as she clinched the gold medal at the Bulgarian Junior International Series with ease. Tasnim is the two time Asian Champion U-15, and is currently world no. 4 in U-19 singles.

The youngster did not concede even a single game during the whole tournament, as she stamped her authority with an exceptional performance. She easily registered a victory in the finals after she out played Russia’s second seed Mariia Golubeva of Russia 21-10, 21-12 in a mere 25 minutes.

On the other hand, Lakshya Sen from Uttarakhand took the bronze medal in the Victor Denmark Masters on Sunday. He was the only Indian to secure a medal in the tournaments held from 5th to 8th August. Currently ranked 23rd in the world, Sen is hopeful to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, after winning several tournaments.

India’s Junior Badminton Players; Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy

The second seeded Indian women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy took home silver at the Denmark Masters Open held recently. They went down against top seeded Amilie Magelund and Freja Ravn of Denmark despite a valiant effort.

The Indian pair took the first round 21-15, but lost the next two rounds by a whisker 19-21, 14-21 in a match which lasted about an hour. In other news, Aakarshi Kashyap delivered an impressive performance, but went down in the semifinals, while Chirag Send and Shubhankar Dey bowed out in the quarter finals.
