Bam Adebayo averaged almost 18 points per game in the 2019-20 playoffs

While the Miami Heat lost to LA Lakers in the 2019-20 Finals, their playoff run seemed impressive. Alongside marquee player Jimmy Buttler, Bam Adebayo also stepped up on the grandest stage to play a huge role for the Heat. Adebayo and Herro were referred to as players who acted as the backbone offensively as well as defensively in the playoffs. Adebayo uplifted his value for his excellent season with a five-year, $163 million contract extension by the Miami Heat.

The move is smart for both sides as it guarantees Adebayo money and locks down a key Heat player for the near future. The iconic block he made to deny Jayson Tatum the game-winner in the Eastern Conference finals is still one of the best plays in playoff history.

Adebayo suffered an unfortunate injury in Game 1 of the NBA Finals that kept him side-lined for much of the series.

Bam Adebayo gets a massive contract extension by Miami Heat

Adebayo was a monster with the Miami Heat during the regular season. He started all 72 games he played for the Miami Heat and averaged 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists during the regular season, along with 1.3 block and 1.1 steal per game. His numbers helped the Miami Heat secure the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Adebayo played an integral role in the Heat’s NBA playoff run. He started all the games in the Eastern Conference playoffs, averaging close to 17.8 points, 9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

This is a great move for the Heat as they re-signed Adebayo for a long time. But the questions still remain the same. Can the undergo achieve the unthinkable by clinching a much-awaited ring for the Heat?
