It is not the case in every match that you get a chance to knock a buzzer beating shot to lead your team to victory. The same fate was fetched by Miami Heat’s big man Bam Adebayo who surely knew how to celebrate his heroics. Adebayo took out his phone to see who texted him after knocking the game-winning base-line jumper.
With the game tied at 107 each, Goran Dragic fed the ball to Bam Adebayo who was being defended by Brooklyn Nets’ forward Jeff Green. Adebayo faced the 3-point line and made his move inside the paint to create a contact with Green and knocked a 12-foot base-line jumper than successfully went in.
Ban Adebayo hits game winner to lead Miami Heat past Brooklyn Nets 109-107
Adebayo’s game-winner was the first for the Heat since Dwyane Wade hit one in 2019 and Adebayo confessed postgame he had thoughts of going full D-Wade in the celebration. “I wanted to stand up on the table like D-Wade,” Adebayo said with a smile. “But not today.”
However, Bam Adebayo hoped that this shot could spark the same enthusiasm within the team which could be seen during last season’s NBA bubble.
After a three-game losing streak this week culminating with a stunning loss to the league-worst Minnesota Timberwolves, guard Jimmy Butler had a message on Friday, calling the Miami Heat soft and specifically focusing on Adebayo saying he needs to play “bully ball.”
With Butler out with a sprained ankle against the Brooklyn Nets, Bam Adebayo took over the bulk of the offensive responsibility scoring 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting, plus 15 rebounds and 5 assists.
