Barcelona player tests COVID-19 positive as Champions League clash against Bayern Munich in question

Barcelona announced one positive Covid-19 check so there is little question over their forthcoming Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Barca confirmed that an unidentified team member had developed COVID-19. Although, the individual in question isn’t included in the final roster of Quique Setien for the quarter-final match against Bayern Munich.

Barcelona released statement regarding the matter:

“Following PCR tests conducted this Tuesday afternoon. On the group of nine players due to begin the pre-season today, one of them has tested positive for Covid-19.

“The player has no symptoms, is in good health and has been quarantined at his home. The club has reported the matter to the relevant sporting and health authorities.

“All persons who have been in contact with the player have been tracked to perform the corresponding PCR tests.

“The player has not been in contact with any of the senior team players. Rest of the team are scheduled to travel to Lisbon this Thursday to compete in the Champions League.”

Both the teams are also subject to routine testing, so the game against will continue as planned as Setienis reported to send his initial 22-man team to Lisbon.

Barcelona will take Bayern Munich on 15th of August (12:30AM IST) in a revised straight knockout format.
