Bartering is similar to trading but the catch is that players cannot select the item that they want and just have to hope to get something good. Bartering can only be done with Piglins.

Piglins are a neutral mob that is found in the Nether dimension in Crimson or Warped Forests or in the normal zones. They will attack the player on sight but will be neutral if they are covered in Gold. Players need atleast one piece of Gold armor to be neutral with them.

Players need the Gold Ingots to start the Barter with Piglins. Players can either drop one Gold ingot near them and they will pick it up, or simply give it to them by clicking on them.

After picking up the Gold Ingot when handed or given, the Piglin will stare at the Gold Ingot for about 6 seconds in Java Edition and 8 seconds in Bedrock Edition. After this, the Piglin will throw a random item from its pool on the ground and players can pick it up.

However, players need to be careful about Bartering as only Adult Piglins are capable of doing so. Baby piglins will only take the gold and give nothing in return and Piglin brutes will ignore it and attack you. Similarly, Zombified Piglins cannot Barter as well.
