AJ McKee, Jake Paul and Conor McGregor

AJ McKee earned a splendid victory over Patricio Freire in the main event of Bellator 263. The pair collided in a featherweight title match at the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix Final at Bellator 263 in Forum Arena, California. All the undefeated McKee needed was one round, to execute a standing guillotine choke, earning a submission win over Pitbull. This was the Brazilian’s first-ever submission loss.

McKee also won $1 million as a bonus, with a base salary of $150,000. This was his 18th win in his MMA career and the Bellator as well. A plethora of MMA big shots reacted to the ‘Mercenary’s victory over, arguably the greatest Bellator fighter in the promotion’s history.

Jake Paul reacts to AJ McKee’s victory

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul reacted to AJ McKee’s victory, taking a dig at Conor McGregor. He compared the current version of McKee to a prime 2015 McGregor, who was at the peak of his powers in the featherweight division. It is worth noting that McGregor had not a single fight in the UFC until the end of 2015.

Paul wrote on Twitter, “AJ McKee would kill 2015 McGregor.” It is tough to compare the two. McKee hadn’t even made his debut when McGregor hit his peak. Even a cross-promotional fight now, wouldn’t make sense, as McGregor’s fight game has been waning. And now that, McKee has beaten Pitbull as well, he seems like the real deal.

It is worth noting that both the fighters stopped two Brazilians in their prime to win the respective coveted featherweight belts. While McGregor beat Jose Aldo at UFC 194, McKee beat Patricio Freire at Bellator 263.
