Jake Paul has finally landed an MMA athlete as an opponent, after all the ruckus and call-outs on social media. He takes on Ben ‘Funky’ Askren in an eight-round pro boxing match on April 17. The location of the fight is yet to be decided.
The news was first broken by Ariel Helwani of ESPN via. Triller founder Ryan Kavanaugh. The fight will serve as the main event of the next Triller Fight Club card, he tweeted, adding that it was a done deal.
Funky Ben hasn’t fought since October 2019!
Ariel Helwani tweeted, “Jake Paul will fight Ben Askren in an eight-round pro boxing match on April 17, per Triller founder Ryan Kavanaugh. The fight will serve as the main event of the next Triller Fight Club card. Location TBD. Done deal.“
Jake Paul is coming off a victory over Nate Robinson, as he pummeled the former basketball star, in only the second round, knocking him out cold. Since, then the YouTuber’s confidence skyrocketed and he began calling out all the big names in the MMA world, notably Conor McGregor, Dillon Danis, Nate Diaz, Ben Askren. And, now here he is, all set to take on ‘Funky’ Ben!
Ben Askren, hasn’t fought since losing to Demian Maia, back in 2019. In fact he retired after that loss. A hip replacement surgery, has kept him out of action, since then. He will be looking forward to getting back into action, with a bang!
