A report has risen that Borussia Dortmund might have to expect a mass exodus of players lest they secure Champions League qualification for next season. They currently sit 16 points off the top of the table and will have to play catch-up for the next few months in order to ensure that they can get into the top. They are 4 points behind Eintracht Frankfurt and have played the same number of matches with them.

Players will eventually be sold to raise funds to cope with the losses caused due by the pandemic

Borussia Dortmund, like many other clubs have suffered losses because of the COVID-19 forced absence of fans. The absence of fans has seen a major downfall of revenue for clubs along with stadium revenue. With the fans going to be absent for the better part of the year, clubs will expect to lose more revenue as an entire season has been played without any fans in the stadium. It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund are expecting to sell Jadon Sancho at a reduced price in order to raise funds to cope with the loss of revenue.

Their performances have not been good in the past few weeks and as a result they have fallen to 6th place in the Bundesliga table. They trail 4th place Eintracht Frankfurt by 4 points and will have to start winning matches in order to get back to top 4. WAZ reported that Borussia Dortmund will lose players like Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Axel Witsel and Jadon Sancho if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
