Caleb Plant looking to fight Canelo Alvarez next for $10 million

Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez

Caleb Plant wants a piece of Canelo Alvarez and plans to make it a massive payday. Alvarez is the reigning WBO, WBA, WBC and Ring Champion in the super-middleweight division. He just needs one more belt to become the undisputed champion of the super-middleweight. And Caleb Plant is the one who holds that missing belt – IBF belt.

Alvarez recently beat Billy Joe Saunders a couple of weeks ago to clinch the WBO title. Saunders was previously unbeaten coming into the fight. The same holds with Plant as well. He has 21 wins in his 21 fights, with 12 wins coming via. KO.

In a recent interview with Seconds Out, Plant revealed that he would fight Canelo for 10 million. He also claimed that he wouldn’t have more fans than Canelo does in America, but sounded confident that he would get more cheer than Saunders and Callum Smith got.

I don’t have a bigger fan base than Canelo does‘ – Caleb Plant

Plant was quoted as saying, “That [$10 million] number sounds right, or somewhere around there. I’m not looking to price myself out of a fight that I want and a fight that I know in my heart that I can win. But I also don’t want to get anything less than what I would be owed.”

He continued, “When it comes to fighting here over in America, I don’t have a bigger fan base than Canelo does, but I have a bigger fan base over here than Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders do, and I bring a lot more views than Callum and Billy do. I have a great team around me. I don’t think there is any better manager than Al Haymon. We’re going to sit down here real soon and get things worked out.”

Caleb Plant is coming off a victory against Caleb Truax, earlier this year in January. He has defended his IBF title three times, but the opponents he has fought are nowhere close to Canelo’s level. And, given the way Canelo didn’t have to struggle much against Saunders, he might dispatch Plant with ease as well.
