Mike Tyson set to make his Bollywood debut in the film Liger

Mike Tyson has done it all in the sport of Boxing. The former heavyweight champion who ruled the 80s and the early 90s will soon be venturing into Indian Cinema – Bollywood. Tyson has already appeared in a plethora of Hollywood Films, but this will be the first time he will be featuring in a country’s movie industry that is almost as massive as Hollywood.

The film titled Liger is a sports action film produced by notable producer Karan Johar (and a few others) under the Dharma Production banner. The filming should have been completed by now, had it not been for the coronavirus. It was only yesterday that the film producers and stars announced the arrival of ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

The film’s producer, Karan Johar tweeted, “For the first time ever, the king of the ring will be seen on the big screens of Indian cinema! Welcoming @MikeTyson to the #LIGER team!#NamasteTyson.”

The movie will feature notable Telugu movie star Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. He was more than excited to announce the ‘on-board’ of Tyson.

He Tweeted, “We promised you Madness! We are just getting started 🙂 For the first time on Indian Screens. Joining our mass spectacle – #LIGER The Baddest Man on the Planet The God of Boxing The Legend, the Beast, the Greatest of all Time! IRON MIKE TYSON #NamasteTYSON.”

The hashtag ‘Namaste Tyson’ (which means Welcome Tyson) began trending on social media. It has been a happening few years for Tyson. He made his boxing comeback in November 2020. His podcast – ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’ has been picking up pace and doing wonders. And now, this.

As of now, it is not clear when the movie will be releasing.
