Teofimo Lopez gets booed by home crowd

The world of boxing witnessed one of the biggest upsets of all time as the No.1 lightweight Teofimo Lopez took on undefeated Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr at the Madison Square Garden.

Teofimo Lopez was the IBF, WBA, and WBO lightweight champion going into his fight against George Kambosos Jr on Saturday night in his hometown, New York at the Madison Square Garden. The fighter faced one of the most brutal defeats as he lost to George via split decision and gave up all his titles to the Australian.

Kambosos Jr defeated Lopez via split decision to create the monster upset. The fight was scored 115-112 and 115-112 for Kombosos by two judges and the third judge scored the fight 114-113 for Lopez making it a split decision. Teofimo could not believe it when his hands didn’t get raised. Despite fighting in front of his home crowd, the Brooklyn fighter got booed for appearing to be a sore loser.

Teo could not believe that his hands were not raised after the fight was utterly disappointed. The fight was very close and the former champion was in utter disbelief which led him to crash George’s post-fight interview inside the ring and say he won the fight. Watch the video:

“I won tonight and everyone know that. That referee raised my hand, I won tonight. I don’t care what anyone says. I won tonight,” said Teofimo during George’s interview. This behavior led even the home fans to boo him at the Madison Square Garden.
