With the fight inching closer, Tyson Fury caught up with Ariel Helwani in the latest episode of MMA Fighting’s MMA Hour. While discussing a myriad of topics with Helwani, Fury stated that he felt Deontay Wilder would be a much-improved fighter this time around.

“If he hasn’t improved then it should be a really easy night” – Tyson Fury on Deontay Wilder

Fury was quoted as saying, “I think he has improved. I think he has improved as a fighter maybe. We’ll find out. But, if he hasn’t improved, I know I’m at 40-50% of what I was the first time and the second time, so I’m expecting an improvement. If he hasn’t improved, then it should be a really easy night, because I know I’ve improved.” [firstsportz.com]

‘The Gypsy King’ famously stopped ‘the Bronze Bomber’ the first time the two met. Although, Fury was not able to hand Wilder his first-ever L, a split-decision draw meant that, Wilder failed to win for the first time in over 40 professional fights. Wilder had knocked out each and every opponent of his, prior to that (barring first Bermane Stiverne fight).

The second time, Fury put on a striking masterclass. He battered Wilder with his patient and precise striking to win via. TKO in the seventh round. This was Wilder’s first ever loss. Both Fury and Wilder have not boxed ever since their rematch in February 2020.
